I wasn't sure what you liked.

[setting the bags on the counter, she starts to remove items so he can see.]

I brought apples, this time, because they last well. But there's other fruit in the stores when you're feeling up to going.

There's pasta, if you feel like cooking, and cereal. [and she stops, holding up a small box with a smile] And tea.

[there were other things...basic supplies, really, and not much more, though she tilts her head toward the door] There's some milk in the fridge, too, and eggs. It's not a lot, really, but it'll give you some time to settle in.

[it was kind of nice, really. Back home, she never would have been able to do this-not from lack of want, but from lack of money. Here, the only sacrifice was the effort of carrying it over]
