May. 8th, 2012 05:41 pm[It was the first night in days that it wasn't raining and the sky was just clear enough to see the stars.
Which was good because James Moriarty had been doing nothing but hacking journal entries and people watching the entire time. There were some tedious bits of memorization scattered throughout his days; new codes in particular. He'd already established a good few to be in Sherlock's knowledge so he set out to study something different from his usual arsenal.
He even considered creating his own but - who could possibly learn it? Sherlock Holmes was always a contender but this was something to be kept from him, not shared with the class.
Needless to say he was pleased to be able to indulge in a pastime that had yet to fall from his interests. He suspected anyone who knew him by reputation (because no one knew him any other way) would think that he liked to torture innocent people in his free time, maybe feed cyanide to pigeons (which deserve it) or perhaps they thought about him fashioning shoes out of human skin. Who would have thought that it involved nothing more than naming constellations?
Which is exactly what he would be doing on a particularly grassy knoll with a blanket underneath him to avoid getting his clothes wet. What he would be doing if he recognized any of the fucking stars.
He was growing steadily less amused with this situation. Never once had he been anywhere where he couldn't look up at the sky and catalog them all by quadrant and name. Lyra, Hercules, Cygnus, Vulpecula. Not one constellation he could name.
That was completely impossible.]
[Voice]
Would the library have any star-charts by any common stretch of the imagination? Or am I to assume no one's dared scribbling down dots?
[The performance is weak. The irritation is obvious and his usually bored, lilting way of speaking is especially apparent.]
[End Voice]
[If anyone bothered to join him or ask what he was doing, James Moriarty - oh, I mean Milverton - would be a little irritable in answering.]
[Voice (again)]
Also. Welcome to any of you newbies. You're going to have oodles of fun here.
[Still irritated.]
